Lew Martin Senior Center
The Lew Martin Senior Centers offers a variety of activities and
classes for people over age 55, which include:
- Bingo - Win cash prizes and have lots of fun. Cards are available at 12:30 p.m. and Bingo starts at 1 p.m.
- Cards and Games - Cribbage, Smear, board games, and puzzles
- Computer Classes - WITC instructor, Barbara Williams, teaches beginning computer classes. You can sign up more than once for this class and the instruction will become more advanced as you go. Classes begin in the fall and end in the spring
- Tai Chi - Sign up at WITC Continuing Education by calling
715-394-6677x 6367. Tai Chi Chuan is a low impact non-aerobic
exercise developed from Chinese martial arts and medicine, which
is open to people of all ages and fitness. It is often
recommended for arthritis, neuropathy, join, muscle and nerve
problems, and recovery from accidents, surgeries, strokes, etc.
It uses slow deliberate movements to improve:
- Balance, muscle tone and coordination
- Fall prevention
- Focus and concentration
- The flow of Chi for general
health
- Crafts - May include quilting, wreath making, jewelry making, and more
- Exercise
- Wii Bowling

Who Was Lew Martin?
Lew Martin was an iconic Twin Ports broadcaster and civil servant
who died at the age of 102 on February 17, 2019. Martin began his
career as a radio broadcaster in 1936 before he transitioned to
television news at KBJR-TV, formerly called WDSM. Additionally, he
served on the Douglas County Board intermittently for 30 years.
Martin involved himself at the Superior Senior Center for 3 years.
Martin's legacy of active work in the community led the Superior
City Council to rename the Superior Senior Center in his honor.

Membership
You do not need to be a member to be involved at the Senior Center. However, you can apply online to obtain membership, which gives you perks such as discounts on classes and hall rental, a monthly newsletter and membership meeting.
Wisconsin Supplemental Food Program
The Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) distribution is the 3rd Tuesday of each month from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Come by with your Wisconsin ID to sign up before our next one.
Those eligible and/or enrolled but unable to travel to the Senior
Center for pickup, can pre-assign a
Proxy(s) to make the trip for
them.

Aging Mastery Program
The Aging Mastery Program aims to help baby boomers and older adults take key steps to improve their well being and add stability to their lives.
The program provides a comprehensive approach to aging well—focusing on key aspects of health, finance, relationships, personal growth, and community involvement.
Volunteer
We are always in need of volunteers at the center.
- Become a craft volunteer and help us organize our craft supplies and plan activities
- Bring your skills in woodworking and help us start a class
- Help with commodities distribution. Opportunities for packing boxes and carry out
