Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)
The Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), is one of several programs under the Corporation for National and Community Service’s Senior Corp. We offer this service in Ashland, Bayfield, and Iron counties. The Corporation’s mission is to promote the spirit and practice of volunteerism. RSVP offers people age 55 and over, new and varied opportunities for volunteer service within their community.
RSVP helps to make the connection between older adults and organizations by utilizing the vast array of talents they have to offer. Through these connections, RSVP seeks to maintain a recognized role within the community through significant volunteer service to help meet a need within that community. Each RSVP is planned, organized, and operated on a local level.
RSVP works within the community to expand
and develop opportunities for older adults through non-profit
organizations and local public agencies. Appropriate volunteer
assignments will take place to the mutual satisfaction of the
volunteer and the cooperating agency. RSVP stresses matching the
interests, abilities, and physical capabilities of volunteers with
the needs of the agency.
Agencies using RSVP volunteers agree to provide appropriate assignments, training, and adequate supervision to volunteers. When financially able, they are asked to share in volunteer expenses. RSVP does reimburse volunteers for transportation, meals, and other out-of-pocket expenses where appropriate.
RSVP provides volunteers with “excess” accident insurance, designed to pay medical, death, or dismemberment benefits for injuries resulting from accidents incurred while serving on an assignment for RSVP. RSVP also provides volunteers with personal liability and excess automobile liability coverage. RSVP coverage supplements other insurance carried by the volunteer.
RSVP within this area serves three counties: Ashland, Bayfield, and Iron. We are sponsored locally by the Northwest Wisconsin Community Services Agency, Inc.
RSVP offers a wide variety of volunteer opportunities.
